Heather Brookfield, social care coach and consultant

My story

A career built on care.

After more than 20 years working in the social care sector, I've reached a point where I want to take everything I've learnt, experienced and achieved and use it to support others working within this incredible, but often challenging, industry — as well as families navigating what can be one of the most difficult and emotional times in their lives.

My time at Byng House and Elm House as the registered manager was a huge inspiration behind this venture. Building a service, developing a strong team, improving quality, achieving positive outcomes and creating a home that residents, families and our community could be proud of taught me so much.

It also showed me just how much support, guidance and honest advice can mean to people — whether you're responsible for running a care service or trying to make the right decisions for someone you love.

What I believe

The values that guide my work.

Honesty

I'll always give you my genuine view — even when it's not what you were hoping to hear. You deserve real guidance, not reassurance.

Compassion

Care is deeply personal. I bring warmth and empathy to every conversation, and I never lose sight of the human being at the centre of it.

Independence

I have no commercial ties to care providers or services. My only agenda is helping you find the right outcome for your situation.

Experience

I draw on years of real-world experience in social care — not just theory. I know how the system works, and I know where it can let people down.

Good care starts with being heard.

My approach

Coaching that meets you where you are.

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every family is different. Every care provider faces different pressures. My job is to listen carefully, understand your specific situation, and offer support that's genuinely useful — not generic advice from a script.

Whether we work together over a single session or a longer programme, I'll always be led by what you need. Some people need practical information. Others need space to think things through. Most need a bit of both.
